NAB

NABFor the best part of a decade, NAB has been a major partner of the AFL and in 2010 this long association continues with a focus on identifying and supporting young Australian footballers around the country.

Through the NAB AFL Auskick program, the NAB Cup and the NAB AFL Rising Star Award, NAB is associated with some of the highest profile, most widely regarded football programs in the country. What links these programs to NAB is a shared, simple and enduring belief in potential.

Since 2007, NAB has donated $136,000 in cash and resources to junior football clubs around Australia through the NAB Cup Supergoal initiative. Rather than cash, in 2009 NAB moved towards providing practical resources - $1,000 worth of Sherrins - to the junior clubs of those players that kicked a Supergoal in the NAB Cup.

NAB’s partnership with Auskick continues to provide much needed support to the 170,000 participants, 2,800 centres and over 20,000 local volunteers involved with the program around the country. In 2009 alone, NAB donated over $460,000 worth of equipment to NAB AFL Auskick clinics around Australia to assist with the program’s continued success. NAB also launched the search for the inaugural NAB AFL Auskicker of the Year and the groundswell of interest was tremendous. The competition is open again in 2010, with all entries to be made through nab.com.au/auskick.

Daniel Rich from the Brisbane Lions won the 2009 NAB AFL Rising Star Award and NAB’s Club Recognition Award saw the 22 junior clubs of all Rising Star nominees share in over $65,000 worth of cash and resources. Since its inception in 2002, NAB has recognised and rewarded over 160 junior football clubs across all states and territories through the NAB Club Recognition Award Program. This equates to over $660,000 in tangible benefits going back to those clubs who have assisted in the development of the games young stars and to assist in the development of the AFL champions of the future.

For the first time in 2009, NAB partnered with FoxSports to broadcast the NAB AFL Draft, live on prime time television. The broadcast was an overwhelming success, streaming live into more than 300,000 Australian homes.
